A down-to-earth eatery dishing up homestyle Chinese comfort food with generous portions and honest prices.
Homestyle China does exactly what its name promises — serves Chinese food the way it would be at home, with generous plates, bold flavours, and the kind of unpretentious warmth that keeps regulars coming back.
The menu leans towards familiar Sichuan and Chinese family-style dishes such as mapo tofu, stir-fried meats, and braised vegetable plates designed for sharing around a table of rice.
Portions are hearty, pricing stays reasonable, and the casual atmosphere suits everything from a quick solo meal to a group dinner. When the craving hits for honest, home-cooked Chinese flavours, Homestyle China answers the call.
We ordered one dry and one soup mala tang, and unfortunately both fell far below expectations. The soup base was extremely bland, and the chicken didn’t taste fresh at all. Even the sesame sauce, which is usually the highlight, was watery and lacked flavour. The dry version was slightly better, but still not quite there — the seasoning just wasn’t on point. We honestly agreed it was one of the most underwhelming mala tang experiences we’ve had. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day, as there are some good reviews, but our visit was really disappointing.

I had a very disappointing experience at Homestyle China. The hygiene standards were extremely poor — I found a dead housefly in the food, which is completely unacceptable for any dining establishment. When I informed the staff, their attitude was unhelpful and dismissive, showing no concern or responsibility for the issue. This experience left me with a very negative impression, and I will not be returning. I hope the management seriously improves both their cleanliness and staff professionalism.

One of the worst mala soup I've ever had, it's bland.. diluted.. no mala taste... they use fresh chilli padi instead of dried chilli??? Restaurant is messy and dirty!!

From the moment the steaming bowl arrived, the fragrant aroma of Sichuan peppercorns and chili oil filled the air, promising a flavorful adventure. And Homestyle China certainly delivered! The food here is better than we expected. We had the sweet & sour lychee pork and the portion is good for 2 pax. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Lychee was big & juicy but it might be from the cans. The black bean sauce long bean with minced pork goes well with Jasmine white rice too. Will come back for the sauerkraut fish soup next round!
