Michelin Bib Gourmand Teochew-style bak kut teh with peppery pork rib soup at BPP.
Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient renowned for its Teochew-style bak kut teh, where pork ribs simmer in a clear, peppery garlic broth that is lighter yet deeply aromatic compared to the darker Hokkien version.
The Bukit Panjang Plaza #03-09A outlet serves the full menu including premium pork rib cuts, pig stomach soup, braised pig trotters and you tiao for dunking, with refillable soup that keeps the meal warming from first sip to last.
The brand has expanded across Singapore and internationally, yet each outlet maintains the same heritage recipe from 1969. Song Fa at BPP is where you go when only a proper Teochew bak kut teh will hit the spot.
I visited this restaurant with my cousin sister and her partner. We ordered bak kut teh as the main dish, accompanied by a few side dishes. The meat in the bak kut teh was incredibly tender—fall-off-the-bone kind of good. The soup had a deep, aromatic flavour that was rich without being overpowering. The waitresses kept topping up the soup! It felt like endless comfort in a bowl. Overall, it was a warm, hearty experience that I’d definitely go back for.

Tried the newly opened Song Fa Bak Kut Teh in Bukit Panjang for a late lunch around 3pm when it was nice and quiet. We ordered the classic Bak Kut Teh, brased big intestine, and kai lan. The interior is the familiar Song Fa style, but this branch is quite spacious. Staff were especially friendly and attentive, and I really appreciated that they never forgot the soup refill. I visit Song Fa quite often, and with the Avocado app loyalty program, the prices are even more worthwhile. They also give a $5 discount coupon during your birthday month – definitely a good perk to use. Highly recommend!

Visited the branch on a weekday dinner time. There was no queue around 6pm+ and we were seated right away. One of the waitress came to cover our bags with piece of cloth which is very thoughtful. Order was done via QR code. We had the pork rib soup (big) which has around 6 pcs of pork ribs. The soup was good with nice peppery taste. We also ordered braised dishes and I have to say the chicken feet were very good. They have minced garlic and chili padi as well but they are not placed on the table. You just have to request it from the waitress. They will also fill the soup whenever they see that it is almost empty. The service is prompt and attentive. Overall, a pleasant place to dine in.

Visited with my mom on a weekday dinner at 5pm. Food standard is good as usual and staff were attentive with topping up of soup for guests. No issue with food at all except one tiny problem which is a china female staff speaking extremely loudly about the orders to her colleagues. So noisy! Please consider using a walkie talkie/earpiece to communicate. Don’t shout across like that.
